Where is the future world I was promised?
When I was a young child I came across a book called the Usborne book of the future . This book was a treasure trove of future predictions of what the world was going to look like in the year 2000 and beyond including space battles betweeen the Battlestar Galactica and what appeared to be a Rebel Blockade Runner from Star Wars (as depicted on the front cover). There was even a series of timelines showing when these wondrous developments were likely to occur. Back in 1979 the year 2000 was still 21 years away and given the developments over the 60's and 70's it seemed anything was possible. I couldn't wait to be an adult living in a world so advanced, so different. Now in 2014 I have only one question to ask - seriously what the f&^# happened?
