Some 20 years ago I was lucky enough to witness the beginnings of a promising musical collaboration between two close friends of mine. Calling themselves Jimmy Glands & The Bad Tones, their songs were clever parodies of well known classics set to a whimsical beat. In 1994 the boys hearing the call of stardom, packed up their belongings and move to the bright lights of the big city. A successful application to appear on that television institution “Hey Hey It’s Saturday” as contestants on Red Faces looked like their best chance at fame. Setting up a makeshift studio in their newly acquired world headquarters, the boys began to rehearse in earnest for their upcoming television appearance. Appearing alongside the Bad Tones that night was a cavalcade of seasoned professionals, the likes of which the Bad Tones just couldn't compete.
